Walter Murguía, director
Walter Murguía was born in México city in D.F.
in 1975. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering,
a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, and
6 years of relevant experience in odour studies.
While obtaining his masters degree he worked for a period
of 2 years in one of the Environmental consultancies centres
of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. His most innovative
work during the time was an odour impact assessment of a poultry
processor and a rendering plant. The study had no precedents
in Mexico, and proved to be extremely useful in finding a
balance between the interests of the industry and the general
public.
The expertise acquired during the project allowed Walter to
join the English consultancy Odournet UK Ltd. For a period
of 2 years Walter carried out numerous odour projects in the
United Kingdom and Spain. During his time in the UK he developed
his English communication skills to a high level. His responsibilities
included all the aspects of consultancy, from marketing campaigns
to technical fieldwork, reporting, and presentations. Since
joining Odournet, he has conducted more than 50 odour impact
assessments on behalf of clients in the industrial facilities,
waste management, agricultural production, water treatment
and regulatory authorities.
In 2004 Walter transferred to Odournet S.L. in Barcelona to
become fully involved in the commercial side of the business,
leading marketing of a start-up branch office. Walter also
contributed significant momentum to the marketing campaign
of AcustiNet, a recently founded sister company of Odournet
specialized in acoustics and vibrations that is now working
on the strategic noise map for Barcelona and other municipalities
in Spain.
After a very successful year for Odournet in 2005 in Barcelona,
Walter was transferred to Mexico to establish the first odour
consultancy in Latin America. His current role involves the
development and direction of the Mexican marketing campaign,
provision of atmospheric dispersion modelling services to
the Odournet group, QA/QC for reports issued in Spanish, and
provision of advice on odour control and assessment techniques
to the Latin-American market.
