en 13725 - proficiency testing

With this interlaboratory test the participating laboratories have the opportunity to demonstrate their competence in odour concentration analysis according to EN 13725:2003. Participating in EN 13725
proficiency testing is an essential element of accreditation under ISO 17025.

The quality parameters used are the laboratory-specific precision (represented as repeat precision) r and accuracy A determined for n-butanol. The evaluation corresponds to annex D of the standard.

All measurements of the proficiency test EN 13725 are carried out as follows:

Locally at the site of the participating laboratory;
The odour samples are sent in pressured cans by Odournet GmbH;
The measurements are carried out within a stated time window of 5 working days;
Double blind procedure, to ensure maximum data confidentiality;
An external coding institute guarantees that the participant's
results stay anonymous for Odournet;
To increase confidence we advise to invite an independent observer
to witness the proficience test measurements.

The International Comparison of Olfactometry (ICO) proficiency test under
EN 13725 is organised annually. Odournet is accredited for organisation of
the ICO under ISO 17043.

The next ICO under EN 13725 is planned for June 2013.
