Profile
Since its formation, the company has been closely involved in
the development of odour assessment methodologies used in the
UK. Odournet was the first consultancy to propose the use of
a quantitative assessment approach to quantify odour impact,
which was accepted at Public Inquiry level for the first time
in 1994, in relation to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Sewage treatment
works (Case ref: APP/F2930/A/92 206240). This approach is now
widely in the UK and is commonly applied for planning purposes,
and to identify and assess issues of Statutory Nuisance.
Odournet consultants have continued to lead the UK in the provision
of quality consultancy and research in the UK and Ireland. Recently,
and in addition to >100 consultancy and odour investigation
projects commissioned by the Private Sector, notable projects
have included:
Review and development of guidelines and good practice for odour
control in the wastewater sector, on behalf of UK Water Industry
Research Ltd.
Research into the mechanism and methodology for assessment of
the community response to odours, conducted on behalf of the
Environment Agency for England and Wales to underpin the H4
IPPC guidance for industry.
Research into the odour Impact and odour emission control measures
for intensive agriculture, which was used to underpin Environmental
Protection Agency licensing policy in Ireland.
Review of Odour Control Technologies in the Mushroom production
sector, which was on behalf of the Environmental Protection
Agency, Ireland and used to define policy for PPC regulatory
purposes. |
