Profile
PRG Odournet NV was founded in 1999 to provide a commercial
structure for a group of odour experts that was formed originally
at the University of Ghent. The expertise at the University
was mainly built up from a chemical point of view. One of the
main capabilities was a very sensitive detection system based
on Gas Chromotography – Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) with
thermal desorption to determine low concentrations of odorous
VOCs.
The expertise with chemical analytical techniques combined with
the experience built up over years with several hundreds of
consulting and odour investigation projects, formed an excellent
basis to join the Odournet group.
Since 1999, the company has doubled in size and now employs
eight staff, providing services in Flanders and the Northern
part of France. This growth turned PRG into the leading private
odour consulting company in Flanders. The client base of the
company is very broad, ranging from chemical and pharmaceutical
industry over petrochemical plants, power plants, food and beverage
industry, waste water treatment plants, to composting and waste
treatment installations, slaughterhouses and intensive animal
husbandry.
PRG is also a respected partner for the Flemish Government,
in supporting the built-up of the odour-policy in Flanders.
Since the start-up of PRG as an independent consultancy company,
the following key projects have been carried out in this field:
Public enquiry to underpin quality objectives for odour in Flanders:
reference measurement 2001 (2001)
Proposal for a method to translate zero-effect levels for odour
nuisance to quantitative objectives and the application of this
method for five pilot-sectors (2001 – 2002)
Formulation of evaluation criteria for inspecting authorities
to evaluate odour complaints; manual for local authorities to
treat complaints (2002)
Proposal of a method to determine protection levels for odour
nuisance around complex sources (2003-2004) . |
