odour dispersion modelling
Odour dispersion modelling offers means to assess the way in which odours and air pollutants disperse within the atmosphere, which has a profound influence on the extent of potential impact of an odorous activity. Odour dispersion modelling can evaluate this complex process throug mathematical simulation of atmospheric dispersion using computer models.
Odournet consultants have extensive experience with a wide range of dispersion models for regulatory, design, and R&D applications. This includes conventional Gaussian models (e.g. Aermod, ADMS), and more advanced 'puff' and 'particle' dispersion modelling techniques (such as
Austal, CALPUFF) which are increasingly applied to evaluate more complex dispersion conditions.
Our specialist staff have great know how in the application of these techniques for a range of objectives which include:
- Odour impact assessment
- Health impact assessment
- Pollutant/odour dispersion in complex situations (coastal zones,
complex topography etc.) - Indoor air quality modelling
- Odour complaint validation
- Incident and emergency planning
We also offer support services and data to third party dispersion
modelling teams such a preparation of site specific meteorological
datasets (CALMET and TAPM) and advanced modelling advice.
